Default OK, Christmas has passed, let's have a Serious Discussion,

The December 13th Edition of the Newsweek Magazine has a lenghty discussion about the Birth of Jesus and the story of Christmas.

The writer of the article makes a Leap of Faith judgement by accepting the Jesus Story as Fact, even though it lack any EX-BIBLICAL evidence to support it. Still, it's a relatively objective article on every other aspect.

The life of Jesus and his acts and statements are explained by two different possibilities. (please keep in mind that these are not my words.)

One possibility is that they discuss was the DIVINITY of Jesus. The other possibility was the INSANITY of Jesus. They came to no conclusion but to an unbiased reader the INSANITY possibility is more plausable.

In particular, they reference the many statements of Mary telling people not to pay attention to Jesus because "He is beside himself." Now, who would know better than the alleged MOTHER?

The is one little JEWEL that was overlooked by the author. The Romans were tough on people considered insane. They CRUCIFIED them. I know that the "insanity thing" has been burried by the CHRISTIANS in favor of other CRIMES, but if you do your research, the Romans also talked of INSANITY.

I don't believe that I am presenting this thread for consideration, but here it is.

What say you?

If I met a man who said he was the son of God, I'd think him a wee bit on the insane side also. What's your point?

Orin,

I was merely referring to the Newsweek article. They made some interesting point with most of the EVIDENCE pointing to INSANITY and not to DIVINITY.

Still, the issue of the existance of Jesus is an open question.

Why do you care about the existence of Jesus? Those who believe in his existence are certainly not going to be persuaded at all that it is an open question.

Those who were purported to believe that the earth was flat had it undeniably demonstrated to them that it is not. This did not occur because someone convinced them through force of argument. Unfortunately, you seem to believe that if you can blow hard enough and hot enough, you can force people to believe something for which you have no undeniable evidence.

It would be a great tragedy if you were a holder of some great truth, considering you are so incredibly inept at making persuasive arguments.

You know B, there is a Flat Earth Society made out of scientists as of today. Your point of view is based on ignorance as well as theirs.

Your posts are nothing more than rehashes of your hatred. Anyone who says that Jesus did not exist is flat out ignorant and uneducated and laughed at by the rest of society.

Just think B, the world is laughing at you, not with you.

You missed my point. Most evidence of Divinity (Isn't that odd since faith requires no evidence) would be seen as insanity anyway.

Z,

Why so much hatred? Could it be the truth? Do you feel uncomfortable?

There you go, Ungaro, proof positive. I mean, society can't be wrong can it? Certainly being laughed at should convince anyone to, at least, act like they believe.

DC,

I give you that point. Americans (I refuse to call it a Society) do disagree with my views on God and Jesus. I am a minority in those areas. I am also a minority when it comes to criminals, fat slobs, uninformed zealots.
Sometimes being a minority can be a valor.

Now, let's see what groups would make you into a minority? Jews make you into a minority, they don't buy into the Jesus Story. Scientist would make you into a minority. An ever larger percentage of scientist (65% currently) don't buy into the creation hoax and all other stories that flow from that. The entire population of Europe would make you into a minority. While there are still some old folks who are believers on average Europeans are totally secular in private and in public.

So, how are we doing? I think I might be ahead on the score.

SA-LAM!

Lock, stock and barrel.

The title of the thread, "OK, Christmas has passed, let's have a Serious Discussion," tempted me and I was not surprised. More of the same old tired rhetoric from the broken record we've come to know as Bill.

Is this what you were biting your tongue over in the other thread? LOL! You could have spared us the rhetoric. We've all heard it from you before - thousands of times.

In order to have a serious discussion with you Bill. Id have to take you seriously. Not possible. You would have to be serious yourself. I cant help but laugh at your ignorance every time you open your mouth.

If you want to have a serious discussion please refer back to my question on spontanious matter generation.

If you dont remember look it up. Its the ultimate end of your science logic anyway so if you cant answer it then you might as well shut the (blank) up.

AA,
Based on that last comment, it sounds like you have a serious personality conflict you need to resolve with the House of Bile. My internet cost is $75 per page.

I made reference to a lenghty article in the Newsweek. When unable to deal with the contents of the article, you folks have started to attack me again.

Pitiful, Pitiful, Pitiful. Hehehehehehehehe.

Reference? What reference. All I see is a bunch of Billism attributed to News Week. If you would post a link to the article instead of giving us your paraphrased version then perhaps we'd have something to discuss.

Or to quote you - Words are CHEAP I want some EVIDENCE.
