Default A Brokered GOP Convention?

Certainly looks possible at this point. Hasn't occurred since 1940. Jeb Bush vs. Sarah Palin?

Sure would make those who sat out the process appear to have known something before hand especially if the convention were to go outside the ones who chose to run. However, I wonder if that hurts the party come November? I guess some could argue, less time for the DIMS to get their negatives together and they couldn't take from the candidates onslaught on each other. Could be interesting but I don't think so at this moment.

As an aside - might explain the lack of endorsement from the two named in the piece.

Obama has served up how may softballs here of late? Screw the first Amendment. Screw free market capitalism. Screw religion. Screw you.

So the real question is.... which republican candidate will step up and exploit this?

Where is the Tea Party? Where is the Tea party anger?

Obama is beatable. Given the right candidate.

If Texas has a really late primary, we could be the kingmaker

Please, brokered convention - and let the conservative tea party types invade!

You sure about that date? My sources has you folks down for April 3rd. Oh wait - that source has a footnote - something about delays due to fights over gerrymandering congressional districts.

Calif, OTOH is June 5, but we are now a top two sorta open primary for all elections except that of party Presidential votes (if I understand correctly)

Dang state is making me crazy.

This thing won't be wrapped up until the California Primary. Brokered convention may be the only way out of this mess. The remaining GOP candidates are all very flawed. I am tired trying to bend into a political pretzel to get behind one of these guys. For those of us who look forward to a brokered convention that will be great theater. But, guaranteed to tick of thousands.

Not sure about the date - but April 3 is no more - it was suggested by the stupid courts that 29 May will be the best. We really have some dumb state reps as well claiming 29 May would be good because it can happen with local elections (unfortunately, they are the first Saturday in May!).

Yeah, since we have screwed up our own primary date... LOL. Strong showings by Santorum or Gingrich in the next several states with primaries could make this a real possibility.

The primary date is delayed because of lawsuits by leftists over the redistricting.

Republican strategists are a bunch of idiots. They practice their trade by using standards established by Democrats. They keep trying to stick their noses up the MSM's rear ends, but all they ever get is a bad smell.

The Democrats, the MSM and all of the leftis activist organizations are one thing and Republicans must stop trying to compete on the same level with them. They must be confronted directly, disputed and dismissed in a big way. Santorum showed how NOT to do it with his reaction to his supporters joke about aspirin as birt control. He should have laughed in the face of questioners and called them ridiculous for even talking about it. If he believes that abstinence is the best form of birth control, he should just say, "it works 100% of the times it is employed". No guts. No conviction. Honest men have no need to temper their words or "watch what they say".

In a brokered convention, people like Rick Perry would excel. Who better a wheeler dealer, trading favors for position?

Be careful what you wish for.

Exactly. I heard the joke, and I laughed. Then I moved on to more important things. What's wrong with people these days?

A brokered convention, brokered by those who would handle that, will not be satisfactory to anyone because it will favor the Washington establishment and put the rest of us out in the hall to wait for their decision.
