Default Gorgeous Islamic mosaics

www.spach.info/ephotoskabulqala-i-hajisahib.htm

Click on thumbs for larger images.

Islam is the only religion I'm aware of that has banished all idols. And so typically you'll see floral designs or geometrics in the mosaics.

Surprised the Taliban missed destroying those beautiful mosaics in the name of Allah. Though to be fair, one must acknowledge they were rather busy burning the rest of Afghanistan’s cultural history. Most people just know about the Buddha statues, not the paintings, novels, poetry, musical instruments, artists, musicians, writers, they were burned at the stake as well.

Speaking of idolatry, Christians, Jews, Buddhist, Hindus and a host of other faiths don’t worship idols, nor fit into the category.

However, David it right, this belongs in the religious propaganda section.

I liked the pictures, Brother. The photos do not do many of them justice.

You're the expert. You tell us.

We are constantly reminded by Islamic propagandist about all of the great advances made by Islam in science, medicine, and art. And I have asked, where are all these marvelous inventions and masterpieces? Then they proudly point at Alhambra. Ok, that is a nice building built 800 years ago, have you done anything since then?
You could raise the same question about Western art. Andy Warhol anyone?

Interesting. When I think of great religious art, the first thing I always think of is Islamic art. The last thing I think of is Christian art.

If you want to see some really ugly images, do a Google Image search on Jesus.

“When I think of great religious art, the first thing I always think of is Islamic art.”

Then you think of nothing.

Actually, I think of mathematical perfection, infinity and hence, Divine Creation.

Designed and built by a Catholic, now there is a great tribute to Islamic “art”.

Why is that a problem? If you recall from your art history class, Islamic architecture had a widespread influence.

Islamic art is an oxymoron.

Name a single Muslim artist that is infamous and universally recognizable as that black-eyed devil Pablo Picasso?

Had to add this:

As far as Mosques, those are the result of vast collective efforts involving mathematicians and craftsman. There is no one individual.

So what religious art are you speaking of? The art Islam has destroyed?

And you really do have an inferiority complex based on the fact that Islam has been in its own dark ages for about a thousand years.

Fortunately, much of the spectacular architecture still exists, especially in southern spain. And of course there are lots of mosques all over SE Asia, the Middle East, and Africa .

Here's a page you'll like about American architecure influenced by Islamic designs:

Especially high end neighborhoods reflect that inspiration.
