I spent my July 4th morning with our little town's annual parade. I spend 45 minutes prior to parade start taking photos of the floats, classic autos, and people prepping for the parade itself. Then I found myself a spot where I could get photos of the parade participants as they made their way along the route.

The last time I attended the town parade was in 2008. I found it interesting that in 2008 there were a LOT of political floats - get out the vote, local political party , veterans floats. This year there were a couple of veterans' floats, but no political party floats that I noticed.

As usual, the kids were amazing. Other peoples' kids - mine are all grown up now and no longer cute. With the new camera, I was able to capture some pretty good candids. (I hope)

Unfortunately I had to leave a little early. Sitting crosslegged on the street taking photos is no longer as tolerable as it once was, and then there's that bathroom thing. Nevertheless I got close to 500 photos, which I look forward to sorting through looking for those few money shots that I hope are there.

As of this writing I'm not sure I will have the energy to get back out for the fireworks tonight, but ?qien sabe?

Hope you all have a good 4th.

How wrong they will find themselves ... but by then it will be too late.

Raise the holiday flag with Join or Die flag
Ride bike decked in We the People jersey
Prepare for friends and fireworks - only family in the city who bother to get the permit (I wrote the ordnance when I was on council to lift the ban!)
Watch Tour de France
Watch Independence Day with family (I know, hokey but fun)
Friends - I always so something shmaltzy - trying to do a couple of fireworks with National Anthem this year. Not expecting professional results.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck inside a little apartment in Round Rock while my family in San Jose are barbecuing with another family. But, that's what you get with Obama's America: You take any job that pays the bills.

I did read the Declaration of Independence out loud today, and I will be seeing my family in a few weeks, so all is not lost.

Update
1 of 2 mortars off at the right time but finale began a few notes too soon - not a bad way to start the show

Working Night shifts means I missed celebrating the 4th. But not in my heart.
God bless America and all those who hold to the Ideals of the Declaration of Independece.

Congratulations to the Gold family on the addition of a daughter in law to their clan.

God Bless

Congrats David and all,

Better late than never, so happy 4th to all. For the first time in a long time, I have detected a celebratory mood in people. It's so important to honor traditions.

David your family is about to grow. I hope that you will gain new "DAUGHTER" with the coming event. Annnnnd, how far will it be before you have little Rug Rats aorund the house? Congrats to you and the MRS.
