Java Chat
IRC Instructions
ATT Chat
We meet there if the regular IRC server is down.

c h a t

welcome all 5%ers and Militia Members to chat! We're still making adjustments here and there to reflect the group-effort, but everything works, so join in!

There are two ways to chat with us:
Easy Java Chat
And for the geeks, IRC Chat. =]

1. Easy Java Chat requires at least version 4 of either Internet Explorer, or Netscape Navigator. AOL versions work fine too.

The first time you go to the Java Chat page, a screen will appear asking you for permission to run the applet. If you want to chat using the applet, you must give it permission to run. I promise it is very safe. =]
Note: If you say no, then you will have to close your browser windows and re-open them to get the permission request again.

This applet has been tested and guaranteed to be safe by the strictest of authorities. You have nothing to fear by allowing it to run, except that it just might not work. If you do not want to see the warning message again, simply check the box that says "Always trust content from JPilot Software Company".

Enter the Java Chat
2. The chat is hosted on an IRC server, so if you have or wish to download an IRC program such as mIRC, or pIRCh, you will have no problem. Mac users should use IRCle.

I have a page of instructions on setting these up.

Quick Tips
Remember that even if 10
people drop in an hour
wanting to chat,
but only stay a few minutes,
they'll never see
each other!

Also, if someone doesn't
say "hi", don't take it
personally! Most of us log in,
then browse the web
in a separate window,
only checking the
chat room every few
minutes or so.

Please
e-mail me
if you have problems.
