Each time I come to the board and hit new posts it says no topics fit your search criteria(or words to that effect). What am I doing wrong? _________________ TANSTAAFL, "Science without religion is lame.

I don't understand what you mean by "New Posts" Can you explain a little more? _________________ - me

"View posts since last visit"
Doesn't work for me... Would it have something to do with cookies, or do I need to pay more attention to how the board works? _________________ TANSTAAFL, "Science without religion is lame.

| That happened to me tonight too.... normally i click on view posts since last visit and the list pops up. Tonight I clicked on it and got that message about no posts matching criteria. |

One of the very few things bad about phpBB is that if you visit the board, and check for new messages since your last visit, then close your browser -- accidentally or on purpose -- the post counter will reset. So, when you log back on, it will appear as though you've read all the posts.
I'm not even sure that there is a fix for that feature.
If I make the mistake of accidentally closing my browser, I'll go to the search page and enter an asterisk (*) in the Search Query/Keyword field, then select 1 Day under Search Options/Search Previous, then click Search and you should then be able to at least recover that day's postings. _________________ KEEP AND BEAR ARMS - AN INALIENABLE RIGHT

Quentin, if you have your Security settings configured High, then you may need to add goldtalk.com to your trusted sites, or allow all cookies.
Just a thought. _________________ KEEP AND BEAR ARMS - AN INALIENABLE RIGHT

The 'closing the browser' issue has been a complaint about phpBB on other sites as well. It only happens if you close the browser. Simply surfing to other sites after visiting Goldtalk does not mark everything a read, you have to shut down the browser (probably all browser instances).
My guess is the cookie is set to expire on browser shutdown.
Maybe I can try to locate the code where the cookie is set and bump it up to a day. Maybe that would fix it.
I don't know if phpBB 2.2 (the next major release) will have a fix or not. _________________ - me
