No rush, Joe.
I do not have authority to make changes for your team.
But you've got plenty of time to wheel and deal with David, whenever you have access.
You don't have any players on your bench and all thirty of the players on your roster are active. As far as I can tell, you don't have any injured players.
This morning and tomorrow morning, you've got three players - J. Lugo, J. Vazquez, and L. Carter all playing for your team. Your opponent has two players - H. Matsui and M. Rivera.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are off days. Sunday is Opening Day for Red Sox vs. Orioles. Not sure if Schilling or Martinez will be starting on Sunday.
But David Ortiz just hit his seventh homer of Spring Training. Watch out, David. I've got the hot bat. |

Crawford was expendable with Pierre also on my roster and I had Green much of last year..we will see if he can regain his form..if so, maybe a win/win trade.
As for my team..horrible draft, bad players..it's going to take a bit of coaching on my part to even be competitive!
And, pitcher inning limits..at first I thought this was a very bad idea; but, if you look at the stat categories there are just as many that favor bulk innings (k's, gp, GIDP, etcc) as there are for quality and fewer innings..
looking forward to a fun season and some overacheivement from the Legion of Doom!

| Dang, Joe. You sure did better than me this morning. Leveller Posada struck out twice and Leveller Quantrill gave up a run. But your dudes Lugo (doubled in a run, scored) and Carter (two scoreless innings) fared much better. Devil Rays looked sharp. |

| Chris, I accepted your trade. Not sure what I'll do with Wiggington though. Now my pitching staff is complete. |

Av,
We aren't playing against each other this are we? I didn't quite understand the scoring system.
I know in Fantasy Football, if my running back got 100 yds, I would get 10 pts credit. Then tally up everyone for a total points for the week, compare that to my opponent, and I knew if I added a win or loss to my record. _________________ All comments, opinions, sarcasm, and insults are according to King Joe (accurately nicknamed by Gary)...aka KJV |

|

Joe, you are playing Head-to-Head league. From now until 4/11 you play Bay Area Bombers. Today, you are ahead of Bay Area Bombers 5-2.
http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/14607/matchup?mid1=7&mid2=8&week=1
On 4/11, compare each of the thirty stats with your opponent, Bay Area Bombers. The team with the best stat gets the win, tied stats are ties, and team with worse stat gets the loss. Right now you are beating Bay Area Bombers with five wins, two losses, and twenty-three ties.
How does scoring work in Head-to-Head Leagues?
In a Head-to-Head League, your team will square off in a weekly matchup against another manager's to see who can compile the best stats across a number of different categories.
A new weekly matchup begins every Monday and will consist of a set number of games based on your league's statistical categories. Each stat category counts as one game, with the win going to the team that finishes the week with the highest total in that category (the cumulative total after each Sunday's games).
So, if in a given week, your team hits more home runs than your opponent's, you would be credited with a victory. However, if your opponent's team ended the week with more saves than your team, you would be charged with a loss. If the two teams end up tied in a given category, each will receive credit for a tied game.
This weekly win-loss total will be added to a cumulative season record, which will be used to determine standings and playoff seedings. These standings will be based on your team's overall winning percentage, which is calculated by taking your win total and adding 1/2 of your tie total and dividing the sum by the total number of games your team has played.
Head-to-head scoring is available in both Public and Custom Leagues. All Public Leagues use the same default settings, while Custom League commissioners will be able to specify a number of settings, including roster size and stat categories.

Av,
Unlike fantasy football, I am asking questions right off the bat. How did I get 5 pts? I can see an RBI a hit, k, as being 3.
IP -- The 1,250 maximum means I may need to bench some of my pitchers week to week so I don't eat up my innings with their durability. Correct?
Just trying to get an idea how to strategize, but I will figure this out shortly. _________________ All comments, opinions, sarcasm, and insults are according to King Joe (accurately nicknamed by Gary)...aka KJV |

Joe, there are no "points" in this league. You score by beating or tie with your weekly opponents in each stat category. The goal is to beat your opponent in as many statistical categories as possible each week.
For example:
For week ending 4/11, you hit 7 HR's and your opponent (Bay Area Bombers) hits 6 HR's.
You get the win and Bay Area Bombers gets the loss.
After many weeks of competing against different teams - on 9/20, your record is 330 wins, 132 losses, and 198 ties. Your score would be 330 wins * [(0.5)*198 ties] / 660 games = 65% winning percentage. Again, your goal is to make it to the top six teams by sorted by winning percentage. If you make it to the top six, you advance to playoffs - which start from 9/20 - 10/3. One of the six teams with the highest winning percentage during the playoffs wins the league.
Regarding pitching, there is no IP limit - minimum or maximum. You may use pitchers as often as you please and there will be no penalty. |

Jorge Posada, New York Yankees
Posada, who hit 30 homers and drove in 101 runs in 2003, already has gotten off to a fast start, blasting two home runs in Japan Wednesday. His sweet swing -- from either side of the plate -- seems slump-proof, and he's going to continue to get good pitches to hit as long as he's in the middle of the Bronx Bombers' always-impressive lineup. It wouldn't be unreasonable to expect his .281 average from 2003 to jump a little, along with increases in both his run and RBI totals. |

LOL.
I take tips from my brother, when he answers the stinking phone. We used to play Routissere (sp) baseball on the same team several years ago. We both had our strengths, but he has a mind for strategy.
Although I look at each days results, I don't get in harms way until 2-3 weeks have passed. I am skeptical of any trade offer during these first few weeks. Somebody offered me M Grissom for T Helton and some good pitchers. The pitching prospects were good, but I can't give up Helton for Grissom. Those are everyday players. Besides, I have good pitching. Don't get me wrong. I will anaylze any trade, but I am difficult to work with during the first few weeks. I want to see who is producing. _________________ All comments, opinions, sarcasm, and insults are according to King Joe (accurately nicknamed by Gary)...aka KJV |

Av,
Why does a team get credit for "GP" twice? _________________ All comments, opinions, sarcasm, and insults are according to King Joe (accurately nicknamed by Gary)...aka KJV |

Sorry for the delayed response! I just finished driving back for eight hours from our honeymoon in Las Vegas and my wife just asked me to help her unpack!
That was just the way that the statistic "GP" calculated starting on Opening Day. I wasn't expecting it to happen that way when I set up the league back in February. Sorry about that.
Anyway, my bullpen is killing me and clever David is getting too close for comfort. |

I got Grissom and Zito for my hot 11-for-22 slugger, Richard Hidalgo.
David has snuck up on me at the last minute but hopefully I will dispatch Seattle Pilots to the lower skewers when the stats are crunched tomorrow morning.
Check this out. Maybe there is hope for my bullpen after all.
MATTY'S OBSCURE CLOSER CANDIDATES
1. Julio Mateo: How is this guy a potential closer in a crowded Seattle bullpen, you ask? Shigetoshi Hasegawa is better suited to middle relief; he did it with smoke and mirrors last year and had already blown a save. Rafael Soriano is terrific but could wind up in the rotation. So, if Eddie Guardado can't stay healthy, enter Mateo, who had a ridiculous 71 strikeouts against 13 walks over 85.2 innings last year. His 0.96 WHIP wasn't too shabby, either.
2. Rafael Betancourt: When David Riske had to miss a game because of the birth of his kid, Cleveland manager Eric Wedge said Betancourt would get the save chance if it arose. It didn't, but Betancourt has great stuff. He had a 2.13 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP for the Tribe last year over 38 innings. Nice.

Av,
When the final numbers are posted, would you mind putting it here or send me an email to jacer2207@yahoo.com. I won't be able to get them in the morning and I creeped back to take a 13-12 lead after trailing 12-4.
I saw the Texas Lonestars and Crazy Hispanics score. I thought, Remember the Alamo.
I play the Legions of Doom next and I need to start studying his players. _________________ All comments, opinions, sarcasm, and insults are according to King Joe (accurately nicknamed by Gary)...aka KJV |
